Facebook "following me" post. Is it legit or a hoax? "Followed me" hoax on FB: By now, you've probably heard or seen a post similar to the one below on your Facebook news feed...
Let's begin!!!
Let's begin!!!
"Just learned something new tonight. If you go to account settings, blocking, block users, and type in "following me", without the quotes, you might be surprised just who is following you. I had over 17 people listed as following me and I had no clue who they were. Mostly Middle Eastern countries.
They are blocked now. I had to block them one at a time, I don't think there is a way to do it all at once. Check it out for yourself...tell everyone you know!!! Creepy...Please literally copy this and paste it to spread the word..."
Have you tried it? Maybe you've found that you in fact have people following you that are NOT your friends... how could that be? You're so careful about your privacy settings, right?
RIGHT.
This message, and any variation of it... is a HOAX.
When you type something into the "search bar" on Facebook, it is going to find ANY and ALL pages, people, and/or posts with those words in them. What you're probably seeing is a list of people with names that include letters from the words "following" and "me."
Hopefully that helps you to rest easy. If not, now's a good time to glance over your Facebook privacy settings to make sure that your posts are only being shared with people that you want to see them.Have a fun filled day, worry no more!!! Please spread this info to others, so they can also be at peace.
