To create a new list:
  • Click Friend Lists under Explore on the left side of your News Feed.
  • Click Create List.
  • Enter a name for your list and the names of friends you’d like to add. Keep in mind you can add or remove friends from your lists at any time.
  • Click Create.


In addition to any lists you create, you'll also see smart lists. Smart lists are automatically created and stay up-to-date based on profile information you and your friends have in common (ex: work, school, family, city).

To add friends to a custom list or smart list


To add friends to a custom list or smart list from the tips below:
  • Click Friend Lists under Explore on the left side of your News Feed
  • Click the name of the list you want to edit
  • Click Manage List > Edit List
  • Click On This List > Friends
  • Search for friends, then click on their name to add them to the list
  • Click Finish.


To remove someone you're friends with from a list

To remove someone you're friends with from your friend's list, follow the steps below:
  • Click Manage List > Edit List
  • Click on a friend's name to remove them from the list
  • Click Finish.

How do I move multiple friends simultaneously to a friend list? - Particularly, how do I move multiple friends simultaneously from one friend list to another list? I have too many friends to think of their names off the top of my head and type them in one by one. In my particular situation, I have several friends in a "Limited Profile" list (old school Facebook days) that I would now like to move to the "Restricted" list. There are currently 400+ friends in my "Limited Profile" group and I refuse to do this one by one. Would sooner deactivate my account.

You can do this this way:
1. Go here https://web.facebook.com/bookmarks/lists click Restricted.
2. Click "Add Friends to this List" or "Manage List".
3. Select "Friends" from the menu. It will display all your friends.
4. Then start selecting one by one to add them.

How to Edit the name of one of your lists on Facebook



You can edit the name of any list or smart list that you create on Facebook. To edit the name of one of your lists:
  • Click Friend Lists under Explore on the left side of your News Feed
  • Click on the list you want to edit
  • Click Manage List at the top of the page
  • Select Rename List
  • Type in the new name and click Save

When you change the name of a smart list, only you can see the new name. So if John changes the name of his San Francisco list to "SF People" and shares with that list, the friends on that list will still see “John’s San Francisco Friends” in the audience icon. Remember that when you share with friends on a list, they only see the name of the list if it’s a smart list.


Note: Close Friends, Acquaintances and Restricted lists can’t be renamed.
